A message from our founder ​

I believe in empowering girls, teens and young women  of color to reach higher ground in life by encouraging them to embrace being beautiful on the inside and outside; the importance of positive thought processes; embracing diversity; life-long learning; to live life beautiful by focusing on the foundation elements of beautiful (self-love, self-esteem, self-identity, self-respect and self-pride); to dream in color as they reach for the stars; and to believe in themselves. The most important focus for girls of color is to believe with every fiber of their being that the color of their skin is not a determining factor of what they can or will achieve in life. It is the choices made now, the right choices, that determine the difference later. Accordingly, choosing to live life beautiful is a choice that can begin building the foundation for life-long learning about being BEAUTIFUL (Balanced, Empowered, Achievers, Unique, Tenacious, Inspired, Fascinating, Uplifting and Loving). We are expanding, have recruited a unique team of talented individuals, and have developed programs and activities that are pretty awesome and exciting. Our goal is to make a difference in the lives of girls, pre-teens and teens throughout the world.

I Am Beautiful Global (IAB) was originally created as a campaign of theIntraracial Colorism Project, Inc. In 2016, I Am Beautiful Global became the girls, teens, and young women's division of the National Girls and Women of Color Council Inc.IAB focuses on motivating girls, teens, and young women of color (between the ages of 11 and 24) to embrace the color of their skin, develop a strong sense of self by learning, embracing and practicing positive self-love, self-esteem, self-identity, self-respect, and self-pride (the Foundation of Beautiful), and living life BEAUTIFUL. Beautiful girls are Balanced, Empowered,  Achievers, Unique, Tenacious, Inspired, Fascinating, Uplifting, and Loving.

Dr. Donnamaria Culbreth founded I Am Beautiful in May of 2013 as a component of The Intraracial Colorism Project, Inc. I Am Beautiful is a campaign that focuses on girls of color. Through research, projects and after receiving numerous requests and inquiries from young girls of color about standards of beauty relative to skin color and self-esteem, Dr. Culbreth created the foundation of beautiful (self-love, self-esteem, self-identity, self-respect, and self-pride). Thereafter, she created BEAUTIFUL (balanced, empowered, achievers, unique, tenacious, inspired, fascinating, unique and loving), the purpose, mission, and core values for I Am Beautiful Global, Inc.

To encourage positive psychological, emotional, physical and social well-being and growth of girls, teens and young women of color through building and reinforcing a strong sense of self and self-worth through learning, believing, thinking, practicing and applying positive thought processes and actions to change attitudes and behavior by focusing on positive self-love, self-esteem, self-identity, self-respect and self-pride (Foundation of Beautiful Elements).

To encourage girls of color to embrace and love the color of their skin.

To encourage girls and young women of color to live BEAUTIFUL everyday all day by being balanced, empowered, achievers, unique, tenacious, inspired, fascinating, uplifting and loving.
